Painted Sky Opera presents The Pirate Project!, a 40-minute interactive opera for children performed in English!

The Pirate Project! tells the real-life history of famous pirates using the music of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. With fun games and participatory dancing and singing, this show will bring kids of all ages an exciting look into the real stories behind pirate lore.

Many of our performances in July are a part of Neighborhood Arts, a collaboration between the Metropolitan Library System and Arts Council Oklahoma City that provides performances for families across the OKC metro area.

More about The Pirate Project!:

The Pirate Project! is a 40-minute interactive opera for children in English featuring tunes from Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance with rewritten lyrics and text to tell about the real-life history of pirates in the Atlantic Ocean in the 16th through 18th centuries. The opera is appropriate for all ages and aimed at pre-K to 6th grade students. The opera features interactive elements such as games and dancing to involve students in the show.
